About Stirling Hospital
Stirling Hospital opened its doors on the 22 January 2020 under the leadership of Mr Dries Bekker and Ms Angela Warring (Commissioning Facility Manager). Since then, Stirling has been positioned as a boutique facility offering the following services:
- Acute Rehabilitation Medical Services
- Sub-Acute Medical Services
- Day Hospital Services
- Ophthalmology Theatre (Dedicated)
- Minor Procedures Theatre
- Procedure Room
- All facilities are supported by Specialised Team of Healthcare Professionals.

Our team
The Founders
The company was founded by Mr. Dries Bekker and Mr. Matthew Rantso who has partnered and joined resources since 2011 to make this venture an astounding success with their combined business experience.
Mr Dries Bekker is a Master Builder by trade and started his Hospital Businesses in 1992. Since then, the Dries Bekker Familie Trust has grown its Hospitals Business exponentially, with three private failities in Bloemfontein, Free State and one in Jeffreysbay, Eastern Cape. They are currently the owners of the At Specialist Hospital, Stirling Hospital, Amala and Bayswater Nursing Homes.

The Board of Directors
Mr Dries Bekker (Group Chief Executive) & Mr Matthew Rantso (Director: Corporate Affairs)
Mr Dries Bekker started his career in 1964 as a Clerk in the South African Reserve Bank. He was later transfered to Namibia, Windhoek in 1967 where he served as a Sub-Accountant untill 1971 when he decided to come back to South Africa to start his businesses. Upon his arrival in SA, in 1971, he settled in Smithfield where he started a series of businesses including a transportation businesses, dairy business and many more busineses over the years. He is currently a Master Builder by trade for the past 40yrs and started his Hospital Businesses in 1992 in Bloemfontein. Since then, the Dries Bekker Familie Trust has grown its Hospitals Business exponentially, with three private failities in Bloemfontein, Free State and one in Jeffreysbay, Eastern Cape. They are currently the owners of the Stirling Hospital, Stirling Healthcare Center, At Specialist Hospital, Amala and Bayswater Nursing Homes together with an impressive property portfolio.
Matthew specialises in creating sustainable livelihoods for ordinary South Africans through his business ventures. He started his business ventures in 2005 in the communications and public relations industries respectively. He also served the public sector as a consultant in the local economic development (LED) sector for 8yrs; working with a few local municipalities and government departments in the Free State to usher youth in the mainstream economy by developing viable projects that are aligned to their LED strategies across the three spheres of government. In 2010, he met with Mr Dries Bekker and started working together to establish their first hospital project, Stirling Hospital and in 2021 started the At Specialist Hospital which opened its doors on 19th August 2024.

About Patient Rights
For many decades the vast majority of the South African population has experienced either a denial or violation of fundamental human rights, including rights to health care services. To ensure the realization of the right of access to health care services as guaranteed in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (Act No 108 of 1996), the Department of Health is committed to upholding, promoting and protecting this right and therefore proclaims this PATIENTS’ RIGHTS CHARTER as a common standard for achieving the realization of this
right.
This Charter is subject to the provisions of any law operating within the
Republic of South Africa and to the financial means of the country.
